Pirie

The Pirie Information Centre, situated within the Pirie Hall in Freeland Church, is open on Monday, Tuesday and Friday mornings from 10 am to 12 noon.

Staffed by volunteers, the information centre provides a wide range of information which ranges from bus and train timetables, to theatre information, from DSS leaflets to passport forms, from further education and leisure classes to tourist information. We also produce a village information booklet which contains a list of all organisations within the area, together with contact telephone numbers, which has proved invaluable to newcomers to the village. Notice boards are also used by local groups wishing to advertise their events.

The “Helping Hands” scheme provides a service to the elderly and housebound in the village, whereby volunteers can assist in various small jobs about the house, but not in competition with local tradesmen.
